News Announcement
I am a firm believer and advocate of fairness and open government. As this campaign has progressed, the town secretary's office (& the governors of HP) has done everything possible to keep the public uniformed. Let me explain, the Town of HP has refused candidate name information, has unnecessarily delayed candidate application copies, had misled me for a drawing for position on the election ballot, and has simply, in my opinion, continued the "Good Old Boy" government.

What I discovered lately is simply sad, and in my opinion, proof of the conflicted government that this town continues. Our town attorney, Albert Hammack has been representing Stephen Rogers individually (and who is a HP council member candidate) and his company Viceroy Investments, LLC since 2006 in various real property tax suits against the Dallas County Appraisal District. Did either of these individuals bother to inform the residents of HP of this possible conflict? Not at all!

In my opinion, this is a conflict. Mr. Hammack sits on the council at every town council meeting. There are decisions that the council may make regarding the town's employees and policy, including pay raises. And, Mr. Hammack is an employee of Highland Park. Mr. Hammack and Mr. Rogers should have known or knew that this could pose problems with council decisions or muddy our town's reputation with questions. The Town of Highland Park pubicly states and is inscribed in the coucil chambers... "The Town of Highland Park....... is undisturbed by conflict of commercial or political interest." I believe everyone of the current council members and directors of our town knew of this relationship or should have been informed, but allows this to continue.
